Hi, I'm Elise Ross - designer, cross stitch obsessive, and the person behind Spruce Cross Stitch. I started Spruce in 2015 after finding very little inspiring cross stitch in the shops. Everything was cottages, kittens, and bowl-of-fruits. Nice enough, sure. Not exactly me and I guessed it didn't represent a lot of people like me. So I started designing my own - simple, colourful, modern, and a bit quirky. Turns out a lot of people felt the same way.

I really believe cross stitch has come back with a vengeance. Gone are the days of limited design choices you wouldn't want on your wall. Cross stitch is easy, addictive, genuinely relaxing - and a lot more fun when the design makes you snort-laugh. I've now created nearly 100 cross stitch kits and hundreds of patterns, and I still draw every single one myself.

Since we started, the range has grown to include kits, PDF patterns, a quarterly subscription box, a digital subscription, and Stitch-a-Longs. We also offer cross stitch fabric and threads through our sister store, Sew It All Australia. Everything is hand-assembled and ships from our studio in Melbourne, Victoria - on the land of the Bunurong people of the Kulin nation.

Cross stitch is a fabulous form of stress relief - personally, I'm so glad to have a creative hobby that puts a stop to the doom scrolling. Whether you're a complete beginner or an old hand, there are so many ways to get involved.
